The Universal College of Learning is a government-funded Institute of Technology, with campuses in Palmerston North, Whanganui, Wairarapa and Levin. It meets the needs of local communities and industry by providing tertiary level training to over 6,400 students each year through a wide range of programmes from entry level certificates and foundation courses to diplomas’ degrees and opportunities in post graduate study.
If you have an interest in supporting students to enter the beauty industry, UCOL’s Wairarapa Campus has an exciting opportunity available for a motivated and passionate Beauty Therapy Lecturer, fixed-term (ends 9 October 2020), part-time position (16 hours per week) based in Masterton. The successful candidate will have current skills, knowledge and ideally 3 to 5 years current industry experience to deliver our U-Skills Academy Programme Make-up and Skincare L3.
You will have the ability to inspire others to pursue and achieve their dreams by offering them quality teaching, mentoring and motivation. You will engage, support and motivate the students to achieve, the first step to achieving their dream.
This position will require you to be hands on, facilitating one on one learning, mentoring and motivating students, leading workshops and working with students individually, so your well-tuned rapport building and communication skills will be required. You will have the full support of the Campus Director, Programme Leader and Beauty Team with all delivery resources and practical requirements fully planned.
You will have diverse skills including being a qualified beauty therapist with a recognised qualification. It would be a strong advantage if you also held the NZ Certificate in Adult Literacy & Numeracy Education (NZCALNE), the NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (NZCAT) or equivalent and unit 4098 workbased assessor, however these are not a requirement.
