Admissions Computer Clerk – Day Surgery Unit (Perioperative Services)
Fixed Term Position
Part Time, Monday – Friday (24 hours/week)

The Perioperative Service at the Women’s Hospital is a comprehensive dedicated department incorporating all aspects involved in surgical intervention for patients. The following departments are included: Pre-Admission Triage, Surgical Pre-Admission clinic, Elective Surgery Booking Office, Anaesthetic Department, Acute Pain Service, Operating Theatre, Day Surgery Unit and SPS.

Your contribution

We are seeking an experienced Computer Clerk to join the Day Surgery Unit working 24 hours per week.

The Day Surgery Unit Admissions Computer Clerk provides administrative support and ensures patients and their families are treated with the highest quality care and efficiency.

Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:

Responsible for answering telephones, diverting calls as needed, photocopying and providing clerical and word processing support

Pre Admitting patients booked for surgery prior to arrival

Registering, Admitting, Discharging, Transferring, cancelling patients on the Inpatient Management System (iPM) and EMR (EPIC)

Entering correct and accurate data into iPM and EMR (EPIC)

Updating patient details, confirmation of patient bookings, appointments and cancellations

Admitting patients efficiently, ensuring the first patient for each theatre is admitted first to ensure no delays (in context of expected length of surgery time)

About you

The successful applicant will have excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. They will need to display initiative, the ability to be flexible within a challenging and at times a high-pressured environment and to work both independently and in a team.
The applicant will need to demonstrate the willingness to work across the Perioperative Services team as required.
Applicants will have a strong knowledge of medical terminology, computer literacy skills, and knowledge of iPM / EMR (EPIC) Hospital software system.
