Overview

The Supplier Operations Manager is there to proactively help FoodByUs work in the best way possible with our Suppliers. Whether it is via systems integrations, running special promotions, data analytics or just general account management – you are there to work with our trusted suppliers. You’ll be supported by our Supplier Sales Manager who has already on-boarded a network of fantastic suppliers for you. You’ll provide the best possible customer experience for our supplier partners to help them grow with FoodByUs. This is a unique role blending account management with operational brilliance since our Suppliers can run quite complex businesses – some have over 50 trucks delivering supplies to the MCG and other large venues daily.

Specific responsibilities include:
Influence: Our Suppliers are busy companies with their own customers, and we need to influence them to give FoodByUs restaurants the best possible experience – your powers of persuasion must be strong to succeed in this role
Gather Supplier Feedback: Meet frequently with our network of Suppliers to keep in touch, gather feedback, understand how our we can work better with them and ultimately make sure that their business integrates seamlessly with FoodByUs
Conduct analysis: we use tableau and other data tools to help our Suppliers identify both problems and opportunities. You need an analytical mind to be effective in this role. If you aren’t excited by a VLOOKUP function, you will not enjoy the role.
Define Supplier needs: You’ll define what, as a whole, our network of Suppliers need and will feed this back to our sales, operations and product development team. There are always things we can do to our system to make sure Suppliers are happy – and you’ll help define what these are
Conduct training: Whether it’s how to upload their latest specials or how to get in touch with their Buyers, you’ll get deep into the Supplier’s operations and will help everyone there understand what it means to do business with FoodByUs
Customer service superstar: You will provide our Suppliers with the very best customer service, helping them grow their business every day. There’s no problem you can’t fix
Creativity: we will work with you to brainstorm new and creative ways to work with our Suppliers, and we want you to bring your own ideas to the table

Requirements

Experience within the food industry is not required, but it is helpful. Most important is that you are opertionally proficient and customer-focused, have incredibly strong attention to detail and can push for an outcome. Suppliers run big, complex and busy businesses – you need to know how to get in touch, come up with solutions and operationally push hard until both sides work better together. Suppliers want to work better with FoodByUs, and you’ll show them how.

You love the customer: while you’re no pushover, you keep the customer front-of-mind in everything you do
Fantastic listener and high EQ: You’re good at listening to people and understanding their underlying problem. They may not clearly communicate their problems, but intuitively you know how to fix everything
Problem solver: you can understand the core of issues and come up with possible solutions, both short term and long term
You’re a do-er: you aren’t afraid to roll your sleeves up and get stuff done – the idea of knowing a solution but not implementing it bugs you to your core
Strong communicator: you can clearly map out a system of how the Supplier’s operations work, and can communicate this back to the FoodByUs team
Love people: you’ll spend every single day meeting with and talking to people – Suppliers, the internal team and more. So you’ll need to be friendly, hard-working and passionate.
Accountability: We’re a small team in a dynamic start-up, so you’ll need to completely own your tasks. We don’t use buzz words like ‘get your hands dirty’ and ‘motivated self-starter’ – the reality is you’ll be thrown into everything from day one and you need to get tasks done
Passion: You absolutely need to be passionate about food, our community and about start-ups in general – we live and breathe FoodByUs every day and to succeed here you’ll need you to heart it as much as we do
Organised: You need to be very organised because you’ll be managing a large community of Buyers linking into many Suppliers. You are used to keeping lists and ticking things off, you hate leaving tasks half-finished.
Team player: We are a friendly and hard-working bunch – it’s really important you’re a naturally interpersonal and team-focused person. We all rely on each other every day
The right experience: We’d like to see you’ve done operations and/or customer service before and ideally even worked in foodservice. Also, we want experience at a small-medium company where you owned all the pieces – people from larger companies we have hired tend to find the responsibility and autonomy is too much for them
