ABOUT US: – We believe that everyone deserves a home!
Breaking Ground operates nearly 4,000 units of housing across New York City, along with housing in upstate New York and Connecticut. Supportive housing – affordable housing paired with services designed to help people maintain their homes for the long-term – is widely recognized as a proven and cost-effective solution to chronic homelessness.
But we didn’t stop at providing housing. Breaking Ground’s programs and services help people experiencing street homelessness – especially those who have been on the streets the longest – to come indoors. Through our Street to Home outreach program and transitional housing resources, we help people get, and stay, on the path to a permanent home.
One of Breaking Ground’s programs is responsible for delivering comprehensive homeless outreach services to several Starbucks stores located throughout Manhattan. Reporting to the Program Director, the Outreach Supervisor will provide oversight and support to two Outreach Case Managers. Utilizing harm reduction and Housing First approaches, this outreach program will be directly responsible for responding to individuals presenting as homeless in and around designated stores and for providing interventions appropriate to the situation. The Outreach Supervisor will engage with individuals and create individualized plans that aim to address the housing, healthcare, and other needs of individuals. Where appropriate, the Outreach Supervisor will help to oversee collaboration with other homeless service providers throughout the city to avoid duplication of services and help individuals overcome homelessness.
