The Role

Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Risk Support, the Risk Manager will be a key member of the Group Insurance Team. You will be responsible for driving a risk culture within Group insurance, providing thought leadership to enable our Leaders to make commercial decisions with a risk lens and within risk appetite.

You will be responsible for:
Overseeing and assisting Line 1 GMs with the implementation of relevant MLC Life Risk Management Framework components, working closely with the Group insurance Leadership team and other key stakeholders to deliver and embed these into the Group insurance function;
Developing a team who will ensure the Group insurance function is educated and supported on their Risk obligations and provide hands on support to leaders to deliver on their obligations;
Assisting Line 1 GMs in Group insurance to actively manage product, contractual, legislative and operational obligations;
Ensuring appropriate balance and focus on all risk categories including insurance risk, strategic risk, operational risk, partner risk, expense risk, cyber risk, fraud risk;
Promoting a strong risk management culture in Group insurance, through advocacy of and implementation of Line 2 tools, templates and techniques;
Partnering with Line 1 GMs in Group insurance to ensure ongoing adherence to Line 2 risk management framework and guidelines.

About You

You are a Risk professional with 5 years of industry experience with knowledge of Life Insurance (preference for Group insurance experience). You have technical experience with a strong focus on life insurance, compliance or risk management. Your strong relationship, business and strategic management ability will be essential to succeeding in the role. You will also have:

Relevant tertiary risk qualification or appropriate business experience
All necessary mandatory risk and compliance training
Must meet ASIC’s RG146 training standards for the required product knowledge areas
Knowledge of trustee, adviser and customer behaviour
Highly developed verbal, written, presentation and persuasion skills
