We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Preschool Field Officer (PSFO) to join our Integrated Child Family Health and Wellbeing team which is part of the Family and Children’s Services (F&CS) Department. The F&CS Department has an integrated approach to delivering early years services across Knox.

This temporary part-time position commencing in February 2021 is three days (0.6 FTE) per week, with flexibility around days and hours to be considered for the successful applicant.

About the Opportunity:
You will join our Preschool Field Officer team who provide consultative support, capacity building, resourcing and advice to educators and families accessing State-Funded Kindergarten programs across the Knox municipality.

You will support the meaningful inclusion and support of children with developmental concerns, additional needs and/or diagnosed disabilities in Kindergarten programs.

You will provide opportunities for educators and families to build capacity and confidence in supporting their child’s development and work collaboratively with internal and external teams and agencies to support educators, families and children across the municipality.

To be successful in this role you will require:
Degree in Early Childhood Education from an appropriate tertiary institution or equivalent (essential);
Minimum 5 years Early Childhood Teaching experience;
Graduate Diploma or Masters level degree in Special Education or equivalent in the disability sector (highly desirable).

Remuneration

Early Education Employees Agreement (EEEA) 2016 – Preschool Field Officer
Annual Salary (pro rata) $105,436 + 9.5% Superannuation
Hourly rate $53.17

Proven relevant experience of providing quality children’s programs using a strength based family centred approach.
Ability to plan effectively to support and link families to local support services.
Ability to form and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders to develop referral pathways for families who are at risk or are experiencing disadvantage.
Highly developed communication skills, (both written and oral) and highly developed interpersonal skills with a particular focus on strength based and customer focused approaches to successfully collaborate, liaise, persuade and negotiate with a range of stakeholders.
Experience in the provision of services to children and families including dealing with people of diverse backgrounds, including those from CALD backgrounds, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island backgrounds and families of children with additional needs or diagnosed disabilities.
Proficiency in the use of personal computers, in particular, database applications, web-based applications, and MS Office applications.
