The opportunity & responsibilities
We are currently looking for a Logistics Specialist to join our Supply Chain team based in North Rocks. Unilever manages a significant logistics business in Australia, with the Logistics team dealing with over 50 vendors including 3PLs for warehouse operations, primary and secondary transport.
The role will focus on the management of warehouse operations and transport into warehouses and customer locations. Key tasks include ensuring warehouse processes are accurate, robust and fast as to make stock available for customer orders. Goals for this role focus on improving logistics spend, enhancing customer service and improving quality & safety standards.
The key responsibilities in this role are:
Manage 3PL activities in one of Unilever’s warehouses.
Ensuring that projects are delivered as per expectation through rigour in follow up and deadline tracking.
Project identification through opportunity mapping with the Logistics Manager and Regional Logistics team.
Support the warehouse & distribution operations controller when required.
Liaising with the Load planners or OTM Team to drive improvements to truck utilisation, reporting and identifying opportunities for continuous improvements within the load planning area.
Maintain and improve on cost to serve system to track logistics spend and take corrective actions when necessary.
Partner with the customer supply chain teams on ordering efficiencies to improve truck utilisation and ordering.
Work with internal teams to work on direct shipments to customers from Unilever sourcing units
Creating and maintaining reporting tools for traceable costs for container movements within Australia and work on implement plans to avoid unnecessary costs and managing big volumes during peak season into the warehouses.
You will bring
At least 3 years previous working experience in warehouse, transport and the FMCG industry.
Analytical skills are essential along with exceptional project management skills.
Previous experience with SAP is high regrading but not essential.
You will bring your ability to demonstrate commitment to the team in helping to achieve goals and proactively sharing best practise, ideas and insights with colleagues.
You will be ambitious to achieving targets and standards and quick to act in removing basic blocks without waiting for others.
Great attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Key will also be your communication skills and ability to build, maintain and influence relationship skills with both internal and external customers.
Most of all, you will bring a positive mindset, a ‘can do’ attitude and customer centric approach.
