An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Gastroenterology consultant to join the team at Northern Health.

The role:
In this role, you will:
Participate in outpatients clinics as specified and discussed with the Director of Gastroenterology
Support and assist the Director of Department of Gastroenterology in the provision of high quality medical services at Northern Health, consistent with Northern Health values.
Provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care.
Participate in audit and other quality activities and committees, in particular, involvement and participation in Morbidity, Mortality and Adverse event audits
Be available to medical colleagues for consultation and liaison as appropriate regarding patient care.
Be immediately available for urgent consultation and assistance in resuscitation and subsequent management of critically ill or injured patients.
Support the Department of Gastroenterology’s outreach services within Northern Health.
Contribute to the professional and corporate life of Northern Health by participation in appropriate committees and fora.
Contribute to ongoing service improvement and clinical and workforce innovation to ensure Northern Health provides high quality accessible Gastroenterology Services within allocated resources and meets the needs of Northern Health patients.
Support academic, research, education, training & supervision (both medical and nursing undergraduates and postgraduates) roles in the Department of Gastroenterology
Entails privatised clinic work and H&M on call roster duties.

Selection Criteria Essential: Medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Essential: Undergraduate medical qualification as a first degree is essential – MBBS, MD, or equivalent
Essential: Appropriate specialty qualifications such as Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP ) or equivalent is essential.
Essential: A current Aged Care Criminal History Check
Essential: Current National Police and Working with Children History Check
Essential: The Staff Immunisation Questionnaire must be completed by all new employees as part of the mandatory on-boarding process. New employees are not permitted to undertake any activity that requires patient contact prior to clearance by the Staff Immunisation Nurses; this also
