Our practice helps local governments finance essential public infrastructure such as airports, professional sports stadiums, public schools, college campuses, streets, parks, and water, wastewater and electric utilities. We also assist municipalities with economic development initiatives and long-term financial planning. Working with other members of the Baker Tilly Municipal Advisor team, the Senior Finance Analyst will:
Assist in the development of bond sale transactions through researching issuance authority, sources of revenue, types of financing, alternatives available, other requirements of the selected financing
Using the above, develop financing structures though the use of Excel and industry specific software
Prepare schedules of events, distribution lists, and financing schedules; develops term sheets, recommendations, and tax implications or other information needed for client decision-making.
Assist in the preparation of the transactions for marketing through:
Assembling costs of issuance
Providing guidance as needed in selection of underwriters
Pricing comparisons and resizing of the transaction
Provide assistance in the coordination of bond sale transactions
Respond to client and/or staff requests
Perform non-debt service activities including, but not limited to, financial calculations (operating revenues and accompanying tax impact calculations) and supporting materials for clients
Participate as needed in activities that support the client/prospect relationship such as development of specialized reports, investigation of refunding opportunities, and promotional activities
Research as needed to stay familiar with statutory authority governing the structuring and issuance of debt, federal regulations affecting tax-exempt and taxable municipal debt, and market and rating considerations for issuing bonds
Support the growth and development of team members through the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy, helping associates meet their professional goals
Meet overnight travel requirement to attend client and prospective client meetings as required
Perform other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree with coursework in finance, public administration, or related field
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in public sector preferred
Demonstrated management, analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management, communication skills
Ability to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning in order to stay current regarding applicable strategies, see the “big picture” as well as the details, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of projects
