Melbourne Pathology is one of Victoria’s largest diagnostic pathology laboratories, committed to providing high quality health care throughout metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria and interstate. Melbourne Pathology is part of the Sonic Healthcare group, which has a number of cytogenetic laboratories in Australia and overseas.
The Cytogenetics Department of Melbourne Pathology is a busy laboratory processing a range of specimens using cytogenetic, microarray and FISH techniques.
An opportunity exists for a Scientist to join the Cytogenetics Department in a full-time position (38 hours per week) performing cytogenetic analysis. The applicant is required to have a science degree with a major in genetics and should be enthusiastic and highly motivated with excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills.
Experience in diagnostic cytogenetic analysis would be an advantage. A grade 2 position would be considered and will be dependent on experience and qualifications.
The successful applicant will be required to participate in rosters which may include evenings, weekends and public holidays.
This position is for 1 year initially with the possibility for extension.
