Emergency Physician or Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (VMO/Consultant positions)
Part Time – up to 9.5 hours per week (inclusive of 1 weekend shift per month)

The Women’s Emergency Care (WEC) is seeking to appoint skilled and enthusiastic Consultant Obstetrician Gynaecologists or Emergency Physicians to fixed term sessional positions in Women’s Emergency Care.

Women’s Emergency Care is accredited for Training for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology [RANZCOG] and non-Emergency Department [special skills] training time with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine [ACEM]. The department sees 27000 patients per annum with a wide variety of women’s health and neonatal conditions.

Your Contribution

The VMO position is responsible in collaboration with the Director for the:

Provision of high quality clinical care to Women’s who attend WEC

The education and mentorship of training registrars and hospital and career medical officers, medical and nursing students Participation in unit activities designed to facilitate continuous quality improvement to ensure the best possible standard of care is delivered

Management, oversight and supervision of ensuring the timely flow of patients through WEC while maintaining high quality care for these patients

Your duties will include the following:
Provision of a high quality clinical Obstetrics and Gynaecology Services and care for neonates

Participation in the unit activities designed to facilitate the techniques of continuous quality improvement to ensure the best possible standard of care is delivered

Participation in the training requirements of students and trainees

About you

To be successful within this role you will need to have:
Must hold or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency

One of the following specialty qualifications:

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
  • Fellowship Australasian College for Emergency Medicine , or are expected to be awarded FRANZCOG or FACEM by April 2021

The Classification and Salary scale will be dependent on experience and hours as appointed and in accordance to the AMA Victoria – Victoria Public Health Sector Medical Specialist Enterprise Agreement 2018-2021.
