Communications and Engagement Advisor

Annual Salary Range: $87,640 – $99,438 per annum + superannuation
Tenure: Fixed Term Position until 31 December 2021
Employment Type: Full Time
Usual Work Location: Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available)

About the Team

Our division supports the Department of Transport to deliver on the Government’s transport agenda, to get people home sooner and safer and to efficiently move more goods in Victoria’s thriving economy.

As a part of that team the Communications and Engagement Advisor is accountable for supporting the development and delivery of Stakeholder Communications and Engagement plans for portfolio assigned within the Strategy and Policy branch. They will utilise their excellent verbal and written communication skills to help engage council, events and industry stakeholders in support of these plans.

About the Opportunity

Supporting the development and implementation of strategic communications and engagement plans
Providing support to Departmental projects and programs generated through strong relationships developed with affected communities/stakeholders
Communications and Engagement plans are supported by well written and appropriately selected collateral, such as letters, postcards and other public materials support engagement activities. This includes drafting Q&As and project related updates
Respond to stakeholder and community enquiries, feedback and issues
Ensuring Communications and reputational risks and issues are proactively identified and mitigated
Work with the online engagement subject matter expert to use this platform to communicate with stakeholders
Work collaboratively across the Strategic Communications and Engagement division for coordinated, consistent and collegiate approaches to the work of DoT, particularly through partnerships in Marketing and for well executed campaigns
Prepare reports and briefs for consideration by key stakeholders on critical issues and updates to achieve positive project objectives

About You

Have experience in communications, stakeholder relations or community engagement with an ability to prepare and implement plans in these areas
Possess the ability to identify reputation and communications issues and risks as they emerge
Have the ability to successfully manage competing priorities and project tasks to ensure project milestones are achieved and deadlines met
Have well-developed written skills, especially in writing and presenting information that will be subject to public scrutiny
The ability to work collaboratively with project partners and senior advisors to achieve communications goals and objectives
Possess initiative with proven ability to work as part of a team, proactively contributing to and providing support to other team members as the demand arises
