As an Advanced Disability Support Officer in this residential home in Blackburn you will be responsible for 2IC support to the House Supervisor by providing leadership and guidance to staff and direct client support to a complex behaviours all female resident group.

The house profile: This is the home of 4 women aged 29-51yrs. The residents support needs vary in terms of levels of independence and support in terms of personal care, behavioural support required, medication management and assistance with daily living skills is required. Two residents are non-verbal so signing skills would be advantageous. All residents have 1:1 support for community access and participation which is being phased in slowly due to the COVID 19 situation.

This is a full-time ongoing position with 76/76 hr fortnightly splits and the roster line includes a combination of mornings, days, afternoons/evenings. NO ACTIVE NIGHTS OR SLEEPOVERS REQUIRED.

Key Skills & Experience

Proven experience working in complex group homes
Sound knowledge of relevant legislation
Great communication skills
A positive, hands-on leader and team player with strong behaviour support experience and leadership capabilities able to actively promote and provide best practice support to clients whilst supervising and mentoring other team members.

Essential Qualifications:
Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management or equivalent Disability related qualification – candidates currently studying for this qualification may be considered depending upon experience.
Current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) and Level 2 First Aid Certificate
Full driver’s licence
Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency is an essential pre-requisite
