Customer Services Assistant – New Zealand Job Vacancy

Libraries and Learning Services at the University of Auckland is seeking enthusiastic and engaging people to join our Client Services team as a Customer Services Assistant. Positions are available at both the City and Grafton campuses.

The Client Services team includes Libraries and Information Commons, and is responsible for providing excellent, friendly, and informative support to all our customers, enabling clients to navigate across a range of library and information commons services, and referring to other services where appropriate.

Available positions

All positions are permanent part-time roles at the following sites:

Davis Law Library, City Campus:

Position A (17 hours) – Monday 4pm-9pm, Thursday 4pm-9pm, Sunday 10am-6pm*

Position B (15 hours) – Thursday 1pm-9pm, Saturday 10am-6pm*

General Library, City Campus:

Position C (30 hours) – Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm

Position D (15 hours) – Monday 12-5pm, Tuesday 5pm-10pm, Friday 12-5pm*

Philson Library, Grafton Campus:

Position E (16 hours) – Monday 4pm-10pm, Tuesday 5pm-10pm, Thursday 8am-2pm

Position F (18 hours) – Wednesday 5pm-10pm, Friday 8am-2pm, Saturday 10am-6pm*

Hours of work may vary during exams, and over the summer, but the minimum hours per week will remain.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for candidates who understand that customer service is not a department, it is an attitude! This means you can demonstrate strong communication, problem-solving and customer service skills, along with the ability to interact with people from various backgrounds. Your passion for great customer service is demonstrated in the pride you take in your work, and your ability to exercise good judgement when it comes to effectively identifying their needs and resolving or escalating queries.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will display excellent communication skills, a helpful and supportive approach, good IT skills, and the ability to excel when working independently, and as part of a team.

As we are a large and complex organisation, relevant experience in the tertiary sector will be considered favourably or experience in a similarly complex environment.
