Accounting Clerk – Part Time – USA Job Vacancy

POSITION SUMMARY: *PART TIME* Entry level administrative accounting position that supports the accounting operations systems including but not limited to accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and all associated reporting; prepare correspondence, answer telephones and maintain electronic and hard copy files. Calculate employee hours worked and earnings. Assist in payroll transactions on a weekly basis to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll. Enter payroll data into the payroll system. Perform routine payroll support duties in accordance with standard operating procedures.

FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Handles accounts payable/receivable, administrative functions as well as completing projects, making daily deposits, invoice dues, events and meetings and applies payments received, account reconciliation, assists with processing of weekly checks, processes credit card payments (batching), reconciles bank accounts and maintains files.

Performs weekly check matching and disbursement processing.

Calculates employee hours worked and earnings.

Checks payroll data and enters payroll data into the payroll system.

Maintains confidentiality of payroll related information.

Process garnishments and respond to writ notices in a timely manner.

Handle income verification requests.

Answers payroll questions from employees promptly and in a supportive, courteous manner.

Processes, maintains and reconciles accurate Accounts Payable/Receivable records, credit and collections data, invoice reconciliations, and assist in transaction journals.

Maintains payroll records, and files, sorts, processes, retrieves, and distributes documents as necessary.

Encodes all deposits and deposits on a timely basis.

Reconciles balances utilizing spreadsheets.

Provides backup for department colleagues, as needed.

Provides clerical support on a departmental basis, as needed.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

HUMAN INTERACTION/COMMUNICATION: Interfaces with the Human Resources Director, Staff Accountant, managers and supervisors, employees, and clients.

HOURS: Monday-Friday 1:00pm-6:00pm

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum two (2) years of payroll experience required or at least two (2) years of practical accounting experience. Experienced in processing and maintaining entries and accommodations in accounts payable, receivable and general ledger. A self-starter, highly organized with close attention to detail.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required. BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Position requires proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook and advanced level skill in Excel.

MEASUREMENT OF PERFORMANCE: Performance is measured by the degree of success in performing the essential functions of the job. Annual performance evaluations are given upon periodic review and input from the Department head.
