
Accounting Assistant – USA Job Vacancy
(Purpose):
This position supports the Financial Planning and Analysis office, specifically the Academic and Student Life units. The successful candidate will provide customer service to staff, faculty, and students. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to filing documents, preparing communications, maintaining various databases and entering information in the accounting information system (i.e. Peoplesoft). This position will also assist with performing audit review and account reconciliations.
This position will be supervised by the Senior Academic Finance manager, however this positions will receive some work from other full-time staff within the unit.
Job Duties
(Essential Functions):
Creating journal entries
Filing and organization
Assist with reconciliations and auditing of transactional detail
Prepare communications
Assist in various projects and activities
Minimum Qualifications

Preference to Accounting/ITAM majors
Work Study preferred
Office/Clerical Experience
Microsoft Office Experience
Educational Benefits
The student will gain experience working with an integrated accounting system. They will also directly learn about governmental accounting and the operations of a large accounting office. Additionally, the student will learn accounting skills in a hands-on environment and gain experience working with computer software such as Excel, Word, and PeopleSoft. Other skills to be developed in this position are written and verbal communication, customer service, planning, organizing, team-player, attention-to-detail.
Pay & Work Schedule
Pay: $13.50 per hour
Schedule/Hours: 20 hours per week, flexible hours dependent on class schedule between the hours of 8-5
Working Conditions:Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer work station for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required
Benefits: All Student and Temporary/Hourly positions are eligible to accrue paid sick leave. This leave will accrue at one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours of work.
